Face painting for parties, events and brand activations.

Bright, durable designs that hold up to running and snack time. Cosmetic-grade water-based paints. Vetted professional artists.

What you get

One or more professional painters arrive 20 minutes before the start time, set up their own table, chairs, water and paints, and paint children (or adults) for the duration you've booked. Most parties book one painter for two hours, which is enough for 16–20 full-face designs.

How we work

  • Quote — tell us the date, time, location, and rough number of kids. We come back within hours with availability and a fixed price.
  • Confirm — small deposit secures the date. Balance is due on the day.
  • On the day — we arrive early, set up out of the sun, and paint until the time you've booked.
  • After — paint washes off with soap and warm water. No staining if removed before bed.

Popular designs

  • Classic full-face — superhero, princess, butterfly, tiger, leopard, frog.
  • Themed — match your party theme (jungle, under-the-sea, pirate, unicorn, Frozen, Avengers, etc.).
  • Cheek & arm art — quick designs for big crowds or kids who fidget.
  • Adult designs — bachelorette parties, festivals, brand activations, Halloween.

Pricing

Most South African painters price by the hour — roughly R1 100 for the first hour and R600 for each additional hour, with each hour covering up to about 12 children. Each painter sets their own rates and travel terms, so check the painter's profile for exact figures. See the full cost guide for examples by event size.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a typical face-painting design take?

A full-face design takes about 5 minutes per child once the painter is set up. Plan for about one painter per 12 children per hour.

Is the paint safe?

Listed painters use cosmetic-grade, water-based paints (brands such as TAG, Diamond FX and Superstar). They are hypo-allergenic, easy to wash off with soap and warm water, and safe from age 2.

What about allergies?

Tell the painter about any known allergies when booking. Painters can patch-test on the inside of the wrist if a parent is unsure, and wash brushes between children.

Indoor or outdoor?

Both. Painters bring their own table, chair and kit. For outdoor events a shaded spot is needed — direct sun dries paint too fast and is unpleasant for the child.

How far in advance should I book?

Book as soon as you have your date — 1–2 weeks ahead is usually enough, and last-minute is often possible. Popular Saturdays fill up sooner, so earlier is safer.
