How a themed package works
- Pick a theme. From the list below, or send a reference image of what your child loves right now.
- The painter confirms the design set — typically 6–10 face designs, 6–10 matching glitter-tattoo stencils, and a matched balloon catalogue.
- Brand-matched colours — for example, gold and pink for princess; red, blue and yellow for superhero.
- The artist arrives in costume if requested.
- On the day kids choose from a themed picture book, so nobody picks something off-theme.

Custom themes
If your child is obsessed with a less-common character or franchise, a painter will almost certainly do it. Painters have built custom packages for Naruto, Minecraft, Cocomelon, Roblox, Bluey, Paw Patrol, Among Us, Pokémon, BTS, K-pop in general, Squid Game (toned down), local rugby teams, and even an entire wedding-themed eighth birthday.
Send the painter a couple of reference images at least two weeks in advance so they can prepare any custom stencils or balloon colour combinations.
Pricing
Themed packages are priced by the hour — from R1 100 for the first hour and R600 for each additional hour, with a second station (balloons or glitter) adding the same again per artist. Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book a themed party?
A week or two ahead is usually enough, more for peak Saturdays and school holidays. Custom themes (own logo, a less-common character) need about 2 weeks so the painter can prepare stencils and colour packs.
Can a painter do a theme that is not on this page?
Almost always. Send the painter your reference (pictures, the kid's favourite character) and they will usually tell you quickly if it is doable. Painters regularly do Naruto, Minecraft, Cocomelon, Roblox, Among Us, Paw Patrol, Bluey, BTS and others outside the standard list.
Will the painter dress in costume?
Many do — princess, fairy, pirate, clown, superhero and witch/wizard costumes are common. Ask the painter what they offer and pick a costume when booking.
What about birthday cakes and decor?
Painters focus on the entertainment side — face painting, glitter, balloons. Many can recommend reliable cake makers, decor stylists and venues if you ask.
Can the painter coordinate with a venue or character actor I have already booked?
Usually yes. Tell the painter who else is on the day and they can work in tandem (for example, the painter starts while a character actor does their meet-and-greet, then they swap).
Is there a minimum spend for a themed package?
It varies by painter. For a fully themed setup, a two-hour package with one artist and matched balloons is a good baseline. Below that, face painting only is usually better value. Each painter sets their own rates — check their profile.
